World is what you make of it. And, yes, I mean ideawise. Religion used to provide a unified worldview which offered explanations and then science was heralded as the new saviour.
And then when it was obvious men could not be content with worshipping a cracked but still unfathomable atom, well, then we entered the metaphysical disorder.
Today, world statesmen will not fail to wish you a happy Hanukkah, Christmas and a pious Ramadan, all at the same time. And they seem to fight not poverty, lousy health security or someone committing crime on whatever scale but - evil. What a mishmash.
The middle path was the terrible wisdom of the 90s. Politics became firmly lodged in the sphere of the attainable. Now we've further reduced to something that works for everyone indeed.
The only step left to make is to close every speech, just like that noble Roman, with: Of course, I'm wrong but..
Naturally, someone saw this before my humble self. There's a book in which the main character has respect only for firemen who save lives and do something in life, because everyone else is just - spewing shit.

Unclear indeed. Another try at an explanation: a happy story is a happy story.
