Now, There's a Happy Guy
Simply unbelievable I haven't mentioned my dear this year's discovery: Thomas Bernhard. A bit dark, but endlessly comic - especially when he indulges in completely ungrounded tirades against someone or something. As there are no dialogues, one could almost wish the down-to-earth graphic layout people had imagination enough to finish his last sentence in a novel at the very bottom right of the last page.
But what I want to mention here is the sudden shift of perspective, affordable only to those who have been there to talk about it.
In the Loser, the story revolves round three top class pianists, but one of them - fuck - is Glenn Gould. So the other two simply quit, although they're brilliant. And the best music schools of the world are described as irresponsible institutions toying with minds of their students..
