On Poetry (just a little)
'for whatever we lose – like a you or a me
it is always ourselves we find in the sea'
Have you met Mr Lower Case? His name is e. e. cummings, one of the most famous 20th century American poets. The peculiarity involved is that he refused to use capital letters. He also often violated grammar – often to surprisingly well executed effects.
The density of his verse is one of the advantages of this technique (I have often used it myself); but – it also points to a certain refined sensitivity. Although I can read into this e.g. being humble in front of universe or what not, for writing your name like that does provide the necessary provocation for this statement, I believe the point is the subdued tone – andante – if you will.
Out of respect, I have spontaneously started using the two-dot etc. sign. For three would be way too much..
